DETECTION OVERVIEW
Risk Factors
After gaining access to a database server, an attacker can create simple SELECT SQL queries to search multiple tables in a database. For example, an attacker might be searching for tables with usernames and credit card information. As a result, an attacker learns where valuable information is located and targets databases for additional attacks.
The system might change the risk score for this detection.
Kill Chain
$source sent SELECT queries to multiple tables that $source rarely queries. This behavior indicates that an attacker might have gained access to a database server and is searching for valuable information in multiple tables.
Implement the least privilege model for application accounts and remove root or system access on database accounts, which can help minimize potential damage
Implement strict audit controls that log every database change
