Enterprises are rushing to deploy AI agents for cybersecurity. But a fundamental flaw in how these systems handle memory is quietly undermining their defenses.

AI security agents are being built the same way. Organizations deploy multiple agents: one for alert triage, another for investigation, a third for response. Each operates within its own context window, with no shared memory of what the others have done. The result is an architectural blind spot that attackers can exploit.
The context window is an AI agent’s working memory: the information it can hold and reason over at any given moment. When that window fills up, the oldest context gets dropped. For a chatbot, that means forgetting the beginning of a conversation. For a security agent, it means losing track of earlier indicators of compromise, previous investigation steps, or the full scope of an unfolding attack.

The network is a continuous source of truth that provides an independent, always-on view of the environment, observing and analyzing everything happening in real-time. It delivers context for every decision the moment it’s made, not based on what an agent happens to remember.
In contrast with logs, which reflect what a system was configured to capture, or endpoints, which see only what passes through them, the network observes everything; every transaction, every lateral move, every behavioral anomaly, without gaps, or filters.
When agents make decisions from a network’s continuous context, even if their own memory is exhausted mid-task, their actions remain grounded in reality, preventing fragmented reasoning, blind spots, and dysfunction.

AI agents are here to stay. The window to architect them responsibly is closing, and attackers are already probing the gaps.
