New Advanced Web Payload Analysis Saves Companies Millions of Dollars in Lost Revenue
SEATTLE, WA – August 27, 2012 – On the heels of announcing new subscription-based pricing for the EH1000v virtual appliance, ExtraHop Networks, the leading provider of network-based application performance management (APM) solutions, is continuing to disrupt the APM status quo for price, performance, and functionality with the launch of version 3.7 of the ExtraHop Application Delivery Assurance system.
"Without the ability to monitor APIs, companies could be missing millions of dollars of potential revenue and not even realize it," said Jesse Rothstein, CEO, ExtraHop Networks. "Ensuring high availability and low latency for APIs has historically proven difficult with legacy approaches. With version 3.7, we are providing a cost-effective way for companies to monitor each API call and correlate it with each tier of the application delivery chain."
Version 3.7 of the ExtraHop system also includes dynamic geomaps, flex grids, and summary-level dashboards. When combined, these enhancements provide the industry's best contextual visualization for APM. With ExtraHop geomaps, for example, customers can dynamically visualize customized IP-associated performance metrics, along with tailored alerts and service levels, on an interactive map.
T2 Systems, a provider of cloud-based parking management software and an ExtraHop customer, used version 3.7 of the ExtraHop system to create a dashboard for critical web transactions. "Our team defined custom metrics for our most critical web transactions with Application Inspection Triggers," says Jim Hutchins, CIO at T2 Systems. "We then created a dashboard with version 3.7 to continuously monitor these transactions, which represent major business process activity. Now we can fix issues before customers notice, more easily communicate with business stakeholders, and understand how changes in our code or environment impact performance. The first time I saw the dashboard, I was very excited because of the value it represents to our business."
Other industry firsts introduced with version 3.7 of the ExtraHop system include solution bundles to facilitate rapid innovation in IT operations and policy-based precision logging. Precision logging enables organizations to log critical events and metrics that previously were not possible or practical to log for analysis in log aggregation tools. While log aggregation and analysis tools are great for forensic analysis of IT infrastructure, not all systems and vendors do a good job of logging, and some simply cannot log because of the performance impact and overhead. Additionally, many application performance behaviors have historically proven difficult to log, such as TCP Zero Windows, complete end-user transactions, and file access times across networked storage vendors. By enabling any metric or combination of metrics from any system to be logged with a custom-defined and consistent format across all systems, ExtraHop dramatically enhances the utility of log aggregation and analysis tools for both business and technical audiences.
ExtraHop will be showcasing version 3.7 of its Application Delivery Assurance system in booth #2335 at VMworld 2012, August 26–30, in San Francisco and in booth #2C at Splunk .conf 2012, September 10–13, in Las Vegas.
