Ready or Not, Here Comes ICD-10!

The October 1, 2015 ICD-10 conversion date is nearly upon us. By now you've probably carried out your system updates and and conducted thorough testing, but as we all know, comprehensive testing is tough!

Last month the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) stated that they will not be rejecting claims as long as the diagnosis codes are from the appropriate family of ICD-10 codes. This certainly offers relief in some instances; however, in many other instances, the use of ICD-9 codes will still be widely classified as non-compliant and will be rejected. Despite our best efforts in testing, things often slip through the cracks. Identifying non-compliant systems can be time consuming. And with revenue on the line, timeliness is critical.

ICD-10? We Got This.

Our customers have currently been using ExtraHop to identify which systems interact with ICD codes, which has greatly sped up their updating and testing process. Observing the ExtraHop ICD detection dashboard informs them of all ICD dependant interfaces and applications. You won't find this kind of holistic vendor-agnostic visibility anywhere else. But the value doesn't stop there. After October 1 they'll be immediately alerted if a non-compliant event occurs, regardless of the vendor. These are stressful times and that kind of assurance is priceless.
