Troubleshooting Today's Distributed Data Center will be the topic when our co-founder and CEO, Jesse Rothstein, speaks at the AFCOM Data Center World Conference this week at the Orlando World Center Marriott. The event is hosted by AFCOM, the leading association of data center management professionals. Jesse's 60-minute session takes place this afternoon, Tuesday, September 13th, from 2:45 to 3:45 PM EDT.

Edward Lorenz, famed meteorologist and Chaos Theory advocate, once posed this question. The notion that seemingly trivial changes in the atmosphere can have extensive consequences also applies to modern data centers. Persistent network and application issues have the potential to take down a company's whole operation, and resolving such issues have become more challenging as the network expands beyond data center walls. This session explores the latest tools and techniques for troubleshooting the distributed data center.
During the session, Jesse will focus on three main topics:
-
IT megatrends such as Big Data, virtualization, agile development, and cloud technologies make cross-tier visibility essential when ensuring application performance.
-
Traditional Application Performance Management (APM) solutions are being quickly outpaced by exponential increases in scale, speed of change, and complexity.
-
Network-based APM solutions enable better early warning, triaging, and remediation of application performance problems in dynamic environments.
Jesse's presentation will cover historical enterprise IT trends, current IT management challenges, and the evolution of the IT management toolbox. The presentation also showcases five real-world use cases (dubbed "war stories") in which network-based APM helped to cut through IT complexity and solve problems quickly. These war stories highlight issues around virtual packet loss as well as problems seen during IPv6 migration, while performing a database schema change, while doing a full backup over a WAN link, and during a new application rollout.
