Matt McIlwain | Member, Board of Directors

Matt is a Managing Director at Madrona Venture Group where he focuses on a broad range of software-driven companies. He currently serves on the boards of Apptio, ExtraHop, Skytap, Mixpo, PayScale, Smartsheet, and Isilon Systems (ISLN). He was on the boards of iConclude (acquired by Opsware), Farecast (acquired by Microsoft), Performant (acquired by Mercury Interactive), and World Wide Packets (acquired by Ciena), and was actively involved with TeamOn Systems (acquired by Research in Motion).

Before joining Madrona in 2000, Matt was vice president of business process for the Genuine Parts Company (NYSE:GPC), a Fortune 250 company. He also was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, concentrating on strategy and marketing in technology and financial service industries, and worked in investment banking at CSFB. Matt is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

George Bischof | Member, Board of Directors

George Bischof joined Meritech as a Managing Director in 2008 and focuses primarily on software, enterprise infrastructure, digital media, and technology-enabled services companies. George has led or oversees the firm’s investments in BigFix, Box.net, ExtraHop, Fusion-io, Model N, Springsource and Vantage Oncology.

Prior to Meritech, George spent eight years as a General Partner with Focus Ventures where his investments included: Crossbeam Systems, EqualLogic, Extricity, G-Log, Isilon Systems, QuinStreet and Wily Technology.

Previously, George worked in Robertson Stephens’ technology investment banking group for nine years where he led portions of the firm’s eCommerce, software, and hardware/systems banking practices. George helped more than 60 companies raise over $4.5 billion in public equity offerings and private placement transactions. Notable clients included: BEA Systems, Bindview, Broadvision, Concur Technologies, Epiphany, Genesys Labs, i2 Technologies, JD Edwards, Peregrine Systems, Portal Software, QAD and Siebel Systems.

George holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Jesse Rothstein | Member, Board of Directors

Jesse Rothstein is the CEO and co-founder of ExtraHop Networks, where his technical vision and expertise in enterprise networking provide ExtraHop with a competitive edge in the industry. With a world-class team behind him, Jesse is responsible for the technical architecture of the ExtraHop Application Delivery Assurance platform as well as the vision for growing the business.

Jesse co-founded ExtraHop after a six-year tenure at F5 Networks where he was a Senior Software Architect and co-inventor of the TMOS platform. Jesse was the architect and project lead for the BIG-IP v9 development effort and the technical lead for frameworks, clustering, and performance. Prior to F5, he worked in product development at Motive Communications and the Trilogy Development Group.

Jesse specializes in designing and implementing high-performance networking products. Jesse holds bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Rice University.

Dr. James Truchard | Advisory Board Member

Dr. James Truchard is the co-founder and CEO of National Instruments. Under his leadership, National Instruments has pioneered the development of virtual-instrumentation software and hardware that has revolutionized the way engineers approach measurement and automation applications.

Dr. James Truchard also is a recognized industry leader. In 2007, he was elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering, widely considered to be the highest honor given in the engineering profession. In 2002, a leading electronics publication, Electronic Design, inducted Truchard into its Engineering Hall of Fame and in 2001, a global market consulting firm, Frost & Sullivan, honored him as the CEO of the Year for the test and measurement industry. In addition, Worth magazine named him one of the best CEOs for three consecutive years, emphasizing his focus on long-term growth and innovation.

Before founding NI, Truchard worked as managing director of the acoustical measurements division at Applied Research Laboratories at The University of Texas at Austin. Truchard holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering as well as a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Physics, all from The University of Texas at Austin.

Erik Giesa | Advisory Board Member

Eric Giesa is Vice President of Product Management and Product Marketing at F5 Networks. He is responsible for defining and driving product and market strategy across all F5 products. Erik is one of the primary architects of F5’s successful solution and application vendor partnership strategy with companies like Microsoft, VMware, SAP, and Oracle. Erik has helped spearhead F5’s innovation to promote the unification of technology, people, and processes surrounding next-generation data centers and successful application delivery. His team established the industry’s first Application Ready Solution architecture that demonstrated how to cost-effectively design, deploy, and manage application network infrastructure for specific application types, and pioneered the use of Web 2.0 technologies to support F5 customers through F5’s DevCentral user community. Erik and his team have helped manage and grow F5’s BIG-IP product family to the #1 spot in the Application Delivery Controller market, with over 30% market share worldwide. Prior to F5, Erik has held executive positions in product management, marketing, and sales at Holistix, WRQ, Express Systems, and hDC.  Erik is a graduate of the University of Washington.
